Boil a pot of salted water and cook the orzo pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked orzo, halved cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, diced bell pepper, and finely chopped red onion.
Add in the fresh basil leaves, crumbled feta cheese, and black olives if using.
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and gently toss everything together until well coated.
Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary, adding more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to suit your preference.
Let the salad sit for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
