Ingredients Method

Ingredients

8 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
4 slices of Gruyère cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional for flavor)
1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped (for garnish)
¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Begin by spreading a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
On the unbuttered side of four slices, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard if using.
Layer the cheddar and Gruyère cheese on top of the mustard-coated bread, making sure to evenly distribute the cheese. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
Cover with the remaining four slices of bread, buttered side out.
Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
Carefully flip each sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes, ensuring both sides are crispy and golden.
Once done, remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute before cutting into quarters for mini sandwiches.
Serve warm, garnished with finely chopped chives for an extra touch of flavor and color.
