Begin by washing and preparing your carrots. If using regular carrots, peel them and cut them into even sticks for uniform cooking.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and slightly bubbling, add the carrots.
Sauté the carrots for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften and become brightly colored.
Drizzle the maple syrup over the carrots, then add the fresh thyme leaves. Toss everything together until the carrots are well coated.
Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently. The maple syrup will thicken and glaze the carrots beautifully.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add the lemon juice for a touch of brightness and to balance the sweetness.
Remove from heat and let the carrots sit for a minute, allowing the glaze to thicken slightly.
Serve warm as a delightful side dish.
