Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.
Sauté Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and opaque.
Add Lemon Flavor: Once the shrimp are cooked, add the lemon zest and juice to the skillet. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly in the lemon-garlic sauce.
Combine with Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss everything together. If the sauce seems too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
Serve: Plate the shrimp scampi and garnish with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
