Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Make the Brownie Layer:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
Prepare the Cookie Layer:
- In another large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, followed by the chocolate chips.
Layer the Batter:
- Pour and spread the brownie layer evenly in the prepared pan.
- Using a spoon or scoop, dollop the cookie dough on top of the brownie layer. Lightly swirl the two layers together with a knife for a marbled effect.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs but not wet batter.
Cool and Cut: Allow the brookies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 20 minutes. Once cooled, cut into squares.
