Method
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, approximately 3-5 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time to the sugar and butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon (if using).
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
Gently fold in the diced peaches until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
