Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, ensuring the apples are evenly coated. This helps to prevent browning and adds a tangy flavor.
In another bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to ensure spices are evenly distributed.
Pour the melted butter into the dry mixture and stir until the mixture is crumbly and resembles coarse crumbs.
Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Evenly sprinkle the oat and butter mixture over the apples, ensuring all apples are covered.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm in bowls, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a few fresh apple slices for a pop of color!
