Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into quarters. Place the cut pieces into the greased baking dish, evenly spreading them out.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, softened cream cheese, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish, ensuring all are saturated.
If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the top for added crunch and flavor.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed up and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While the casserole is baking, prepare the icing from the cinnamon rolls as per the package instructions.
